We are your mecca for underground music and culture. We've got a wide selection of new and used music on CD, LP and even a couple odd formats here and there - including, but not limited to, punk, indie rock, hardcore, metal, noise, dubstep, industrial, folk... We've also got books, dvds, and lots of little trinkets to feed your need for the underground flavors.
Hey! Happy Halloween! We like this holiday. We like it so much we decided (we actually decided this about 10 minutes ago) to offer 10% off all spooky soundtracks! Woo! I mean BOO! What does that mean to you? That means today is the best time to make the trip here and stock up on all Death Waltz releases, any Goblin we might have in stock, the recently re-released Eraserhead soundtrack and any more I am not thinking of off the top of my head right now. If you cannot make it into the store or if you are a regular online customer you can also take advantage of this one by mentioning the "Spooky Deal" in the comments section of your order (on any order put in today 10/31/12 by 12PM EST/GMT-5:00 only) at our shop on Discogs. [This applies to used records as well.]

Or maybe you prefer to be called Frankenstorm? Is that an admission of guilt by whoever dubbed you that, Sandy? Is that person / Are those persons admitting that the folly of man has created you, Frankenstorm? It's probably just a play on words because it's hitting the US East Coast during Halloween time, but maybe you have more insight, Sandy? Anyways, surf's up. Redscroll will be closed all Monday. We're hoping to be open Tuesday, but stay tuned and check our twitter for quick updates.
Just to be perfectly clear: Redscroll Records will be closed on Monday, October 29th, 2012. Please check back for future notes on any interruptions to our normal hours of operation.
26th of October 2012 Update of New and Key Restocked Items + Reviews at Redscroll Records
We got in a bunch of sealed records in a collection this week so the 80s records you see in here are from that (not reissues, in other words). They are sealed and priced and put in the new section.

Diamond TerrifierKill The Self That Wants To Kill Yourself
(Northern Spy) Best known for being a founding member of the Brooklyn-based avant-garde trio Zs, tenor saxist Sam Hillmer pulls even more surprises (even by “experimental” standards) on this debut from his latest project. For example, while I was certainly expecting his wonderful shrieking-sax cacophony on the title track, I couldn’t have imagined that it’d complement an ultra-mellow synth line that feels very close to the one used in Alphaville’s “Forever Young.” Despite the strange combination of soothing and very non-soothing, the end result blends surprisingly well, as does the mix of the do-whatever-it-wants sax and an infectious guitar loop that makes up the head-bobbing “Transference Trance.” Those playful tracks sandwich the darkly ambient minute-long “Defile the Style,” and once the nebulous fourth track “Three Things” kicks in, it’s clear that it’s time for purely scary, lo-fi free jazz that buzzes like a hornet’s nest. “Adamantine” is another particularly interesting stand-out, with the sax sounding like some sort of avian alien backed by an uptight drum-machine loop. Kid606Lost In The Game
(Tigerbeat6) Born in Caracas, Venezuela and raised in San Diego, electronic/IDM/glitch musician Miguel Trost De Pedro has been active with his Kid606 project since 1998. While his older material is frequently considered to be wildly experimental, he sounds far more mature here, with particular focus on building up atmospheres. For example, opener “Godspeed You African American Empire” is constructed upon a lengthy, early electronic-sounding synth-line (it makes me imagine a pixilated sun rising over a wireframe landscape) that steadily adds layers to complete the lush environment. Even with his more developed, streamlined and contemplative sound, he mixes in experimental elements, such as the scattered opening beat and various odd notes that speckle “Meeguk So Horny.” “Gimme Summer” is one of the most memorable experiments, combining both mellow ocean-like synth with harsh, very unusually-timed mechanical flashes. you're going to want to press the "Read More" link on the bottom to
view the videos.)
Seeing New Order now I'm reminded of some really good times clubbing with a former roommate and still good friend of mine (who now lives 3000 miles away). He'd get outright jovial and look for anyone (especially females) to dance with when this came on. (Rick - who saw New Order last Thursday and is still excited about it.)
The Third Man Records Rolling Record Store just pulled up. It will open shortly, but in the meantime enjoy this iconic video (and a pretty great one). Rock and roll.
Noisey rockers, A Place To Bury Strangers just released a new video for "And I'm Up" off of their album Worship which came out earlier this summer. A lighter, Illegal fireworks and a box of childhood memories combine to make a cool backdrop for this post rock.
This Friday, Cleveland heavy weights, Ringworm will be playing at the El 'n' Gee in New London w/ INTEGRITY & IG!Fits. Ringworm has been writing some of the most brutal hardcore metal crossover songs for over 20 years. Put on your best jean vest, pour a beer over your head and get wild!
It's true that Lust For Youth is releasing their latest album through Sacred Bones Records in the US, however it's also true that we've had this album in stock for some months now courtesy of Italian label Avant! (Great label that we stock records from regularly - check it out.) Dark minimal synth music for dark clubs with traumatizing light shows (see: video).
We post these videos daily on Facebook.com/Redscroll. Please "Like" that page if you are on FB. If you
aren't on Facebook then these are here for you - posted weekly. Music is so
extremely important and good.
