Dan Melchior The Backward Path

(Northern Spy)
This English singer/songwriter/guitarist continues his tradition of difficult-to-categorize music fusing genres such as punk blues and indie rock. On this album, though, he alternates between two musical styles, both receiving an almost identical balance of time: instrumental electronic experimentation and heartfelt acoustic songs that showcase Melchior’s versatile guitar and vocal skills. His shift in emotions can be attributed to the experience of supporting his wife Letha, who is currently suffering from cancer and he dedicated this album to. The stripped-down, genuinely emotive ballads are where Melchior shines the most here: a good example is “All The Clocks,” taking the interesting perspective of thanking his wife for helping ease his time-blurring stress, not letting her illness weaken her hope as well. The ominous “Waves,” on the other hand, conveys the difficulty of coping with relentless unease that makes one’s entire world feel different. He also employs several experimental guest musicians to fill out his innovative sound, including Sam Hillmer (Zs, Diamond Terrifier,) Anthony Allman (El Jesus De Magico) and C. Spencer Yeh (Burning Star Core.)

Fall Out Boy  Save Rock And Roll

(Island)
Fall Out Boy are back! The band recently announced their reunion and wasted
no time in releasing new material. Their fifth album, Save Rock And Roll, is a bold
new direction for the band and encompasses the new elements the band members
acquired while working on their individual projects. The album kicks off with the
strong and aggressive track “The Phoenix” and ends with the powerful and heartfelt
“Save Rock And Roll”. This album is also full of its share of guest artists across
multiple genres, including Foxes, Big Sean, Courtney Love, and Elton John. This
return album shows that Fall Out Boy are truly back, with a vengeance.
Suggested Tracks: My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark, Alone Together,
Young Volcanoes, Save Rock And Roll

RECORD STORE DAY and Regular 19th Of April 2013 Update

RECORD STORE DAY and Regular 19th Of April 2013 Update of New and Key Restocked Items + Reviews
at Redscroll Records

Record Store Day items are listed at the top of this update and the normal update items follow. Know that many of these items are extremely limited and were split between thousands of stores so our quantities are proportionately limited as well. There are things we got blanked on and some things that perhaps will arrive late next week (we'll post about those as they come). If you are looking for a specific item that we have listed it is advisable to get here very early.
As ever here, RSD items will be first come first serve and one of each title per person. It is looking like it might rain so please take care of yourself as well - rain gear in tow. The line will still be outside rain or shine (we are a small shop still). The food trucks will still be coming too (approximately 9AM-1PM for those). We expect everyone to be cordial and respectful as well. No holding spots in line/no cuts. Be excellent to each other. We'll have some friends from the Hartford Area Roller Derby helping us keep things going smoothly inside and out.  We love seeing so many friendly faces in one day and we're looking forward to a great time.

Food Trucks Are Coming For Record Store Day

Food Trucks Are Coming For Record Store Day

To celebrate our 6th Anniversary along with Record Store Day we are bringing in two delicious food trucks for your pleasure. Whether you are looking for a full meal or just something sweet, we got you covered!

G-Monkey shatters the stereotypes of typical street vending food, and redefines them in a totally sustainable, green, provocative, and innovative way. Not only is all of the food that they prepare and serve completely natural and organic, but their truck itself also runs of bio-fuel. Their menu consists of such favorites as Feisty Monkey Peanut Soba Noodles, Downward Dog Blackbean Burrito, and the Farm 2 Street Black Bean And Chipotle Burger.
For the rest of the items on their menu click here: http://gmonkeymobile.com/mobilemenu/gmenu.pdf
And to hear their story click here:

Hardcore Sweet Cupcakes is based out of Waterbury and sells sweet, savory, and unique flavors of cupcakes, all of which are homemade. Some of their flavors include the Big Bopper Whopper, which is composed of a malt chocolate cake, with a malt chocolate buttercream, with pieces of Whopper candies throughout the top for garnish, and The Ozzy, which includes a dark chocolate bourbon cake, that is filled with a caramel, pecan, and chocolate ganache- with another shot of bourbon. Topped with a chocolate buttercream, dark chocolate shavings and a salted caramel topping. As they say, “Sweet , savory, dietary restrictions or watching your weight, everyone deserves to relax and eat a good cupcake!”
Their extensive menu can be found here: http://hardcoresweetcupcakes.com/Menu.html

It's gonna be sweet.
